When you started your new stay-at-home business, you were probably happy and enthusiastic about the chance to make money right in your own home. You would be able to spend more time with your family while making an additional income and the possibility that the future money from this MLM plan would be there as long as you lived.
But within a very short period of time, you alienated your friends and family, you spent money with little or no results, you hung flyers, talked to people at parties and what was fun now was expensive, and made you the person to avoid at Thanksgiving.
You were anxious to tell everyone about this great product that you thought your friends and family would want. You followed all the rules and were attentive at seminars and listened to upline seniors. Yet money still flows out more than profits flow in.
New technology offers new ways to sell your product. Dont quit yet. These opportunities are less costly and often result in more leads than the time-honored (old fashioned?) methods of generating leads.
You may not have pursued these methods yet, so give them a try:
Local Events
Use the internet to search for ongoing networking events in your community. Given the increase in unemployment rates, there are more people looking for an alternative income source then ever. They are also more approachable than ever. In most communities there are events going on almost every week with people looking to sell their products and find a job or opportunity. But be careful at these events not to oversell your product or service to people, get to know the person you are talking to and see how you can help them before you jump into your pitch. If you are helpful and friendly the chances to build a relationship that turns into an opportunity will go up multifold.
Internet Social Networks
You can expand your business by using social networking sites on the internet in the same way you use local events. This is a rapidly expanding part of the internet, so lots of people are joining. Behave in the same way you would if you were talking to the person at a local event " be friendly and helpful before you jump in with your pitch. If they think you are just an MLMer wanting to sell something they will be gone in a flash. It will be more enjoyable for you, too, if you spend the extra time to get to know someone. They will eventually bite if you earn their confidence and esteem and they can see how the business would benefit them, too.
Other Internet Tools
While social networking is part of the internet, there are a lot of additional tools that are very effective to help you grow you prospect base without spending a lot of money as well. In some cases you can make money as well by using tools such as eBooks and webinars to attract people to your business. This process is commonly referred to as attraction marketing and works very much on the same principals as described above, by providing information and support before asking for anything. This way you can help to build a relationship that will increase your credibility and improve your odds of getting a person to join your team.
In all three examples above, the main key is to make yourself into a person who will give as much or more than they get so that the lead trusts you before you attempt to sell something. Don't pretend, actually be that way. If you have a good product, people who are treated in a helpful and friendly manner will begin to come to you for it and you will be successful.
